Model 232SS2 is a four-port switch that can act either as a smart switch, allowing one PC to control up to four devices, or as a port combiner, allowing up to four peripherals to gain access to one PC without scrambling their signals. It supports DSR, DCD, and DTR in addition to TD, RD, RTS, and CTS. The master port can be configured as a DTE or DCE port by an internal switch setting. If the master is configured as a DTE port, the four slave ports will become DCE ports. The master and slave connectors are DB25 female.
Model 232SS2 also has an enhanced mode, which offers special timer features that can be used to prevent slave devices from receiving preamble commands, inadvertent switching from binary/graphic file transfers, and inactive slave devices from holding control of the master port.
Baud rates from xxxx to 115.2kbps are selected by an internal switch. LEDs indicate which port is active. Model 232SS2 includes a 12VDC 100 mA wall-mount transformer for power.
